Broken: Book 2 of the ShadowLight Saga RELEASE UPDATE

Though book 2 was originally slated for spring/summer release 2013, due to unforeseen circumstances, the release has been pushed back to winter 2013. Please sign up below to be notified when Broken is released.

Also, beta readers for this book will be needed soon. If you’re interested in beta reading (see explanation below), please sign up to be contacted when the manuscript is ready for beta.

Don’t know what a beta reader is?

A beta reader reads the manuscript before it is released to the public and reports back to the author on general impressions, plot holes, grammatical problems, etc. that may be present in the manuscript. The author takes the betas’ feedback and incorporates them into the manuscript per their discretion before the manuscript is sent to copy editing. Beta readers are integral to the process of getting a solid story out to the general public and are thanked in the books acknowledgment section. You don’t have to have any qualifications other than having read both the prequel and Bonded to sign up to be a beta reader. The author will only take a handful of volunteers for beta reading. The first people that respond to the beta reader announcement (which will be sent through the email list – if you’re interested, please sign up below) will be chosen.

Look for chapter sneak peaks on this site soon!

  1. Hi Mande,
Since I love your writing and anxiously await the release of your next, please consider me in the running to be one of your Beta Readers. I am training to be a court reporter and currently work as an article/abstract editor, proof reader, and scopist for court reporters. I would LOVE to extend my services to you when the time comes for your Beta selection.
    Thank you for your consideration.

    1. You’ve got it Colleen! I would be thrilled to have you as a Beta. I’m getting close so I will let you know.

  2. Have just finished Book 1 and I have already tried to download book two, you can’t imagine my disappointment in reading here that will not be released until winter of 2013. I am so sad as I hoped to dive right into the sequel. I have no experience for a Beta reader except to say that I literally live in these stories. I found some similarities in names and places as in the books of the Game of Thrones: Brisinger
being the last book. I love knighthood, animals, magic etc. Dragons are my passion.Thank you for writing such wonderful stories and please don`t wait too long for book two.:))

    1. Hi Dawn! Thanks for the comments. I have reserved a beta reader position for you. Thank you so much for the offer and I am getting close and will let you know. Incidentally, a lot of my names are based on Old Norse and Norse Mythology. A lot of writers pull from old legends and that’s undoubtedly where similarities arise. You’ll even find the King of Fantasy, JRR pulls from Norse myth as well. Thanks for your enthusiastic response. I’ll be in touch soon.

  3. I thoroughly enjoyed the prequel and Bonded and was also disappointed to find out I have to wait for more. I’ve been an Executive Assistant for 20+ years and while I don’t have beta experience, I am an avid reader and much experience proof reading. I would welcome an opportunity to become a beta reader.

This has been the first of your novels I have read but definitely not the last. I’m really looking forward to being absorbed in your other novels.

    1. Hi Louise! Thank you for stopping by and offering to beta. I am officially adding you to the beta list! Thanks so much!

  4. I am so excited about book 2!!! I have no beta experience but would love to try! When can we expect book 2 of the ShadowLight Saga available?

    1. Hi Morgan! Thanks for stopping by. I’d be honored to add you as beta reader. Though I expect to have ShadowLight 2 ready for beta in about 2-3 weeks, I’m not expecting betas to instantly read and return due to the holidays. Though I had originally hoped to release ShadowLight 2 before Christmas, due to that timeline, it may be delayed until after the holiday.

  5. Ms Mathews:
I have just finished your first novel, “Bonded” in the Shadow Light Saga. I am hooked! I was enthralled and finished it in one day. I have downloaded the prequel and am looking forward to the release of “Broken”. If you still have a need for beta readers, I would be honored to be considered. I have never been a beta reader but I do read voraciously. If I could be of any assistance, I am at your disposal.
    Thank you for your consideration.
    Kim Garrett

  6. oh! i would be interested in beta reading as well! i didn’t mention it in my last post because i thought that it was no longer available! :O

    1. Hi Shell,
You’re correct. Beta reading for Broken is closed. I’m actually making final edits right now and it goes to copy editing on Friday. When I emailed Kim, I offered to slide her into a future beta readers folder as I will have two ShadowLight side adventures coming out soon, and then of course book 3. I can do the same for you!

  7. oh yes please do! i would love that thank you!

  8. Hello,
I finished your prequel and I’ve only started Bonded. Since I’m already looking for book 2, it’s safe to say that I’m excited about this saga! Please consider me for beta reading for your future books. Keep up the good work!

  9. Kaity,
Thanks for stopping by and letting me know! I appreciate your feedback and I’ll move you into my future beta readers file. Thanks again!
