  1. Hi Mande – this is the Amazon description in which I have total confidence – actually, it’s the hardest thing in the world to write… Cool that you’re doing this as feedback is the stuff of life.

A rebellion in Heaven leaves Eden littered with the bodies of angels.

Michael, the Guardian Supreme Commander, calls for a hero to be brought from the Other Place with his memory intact, so that he retains the sneaky, cunning and underhand ways of Earth he will need to kill Lucid, the son of Lucifer. They pick Dylan, a 22 year old layabout with a total disregard for authority. So, not a good choice then.

Dylan’s twin sister is kidnapped by Lucid for breeding and taken to his castle on the Dark Continent, so Dylan teams up with a wizard he calls Merlin and sets off to rescue her. An old wizard, his sentient cat and an idiot against thousands of minotaurs, centaurs, monsters and demons. Well, that should work.

One look at his ‘hero’ and Michael sends Gabriel, The Angel of Death, to help in the quest, despite his tendency to smite anyone he doesn’t like the look of. And on route to Lucid’s castle, they pick up Fate’s favourite daughter and a legendary mist dragon with amnesia. The odds aren’t getting any better.

    1. Hi Leigh! Thanks for submitting. Your novel sounds interesting! I will let the blog post ride for about two weeks before making my decision and notifying the novelists.

I also forgot to mention I’ll be more than happy to post the review on Amazon as well. Best of luck and thanks again.

  2. My novel, The Hambledown Dream, is a lyrical fable about a young spirit who refuses to die.

Australian Denny Banister had it all; a successful career, a passion for the guitar, and Sonya – the love of his life. Tragically, Denny is struck down with inoperable cancer.

Andy DeVries has almost nothing; alienated from his family, moving through a dangerous Chicago underworld dealing in drugs, battling addiction; all while keeping a wavering hold on the only thing that matters to him: a place at a prestigious conservatory for classical guitar in Chicago.

As Andy recovers from a near fatal overdose, he is plagued by dreams – memories of a love he has never felt, and a life he’s never lived. Driven by the need for redemption and by the love for a woman he’s never met, he begins a quest to find her, knowing her only by the memories of a stranger and the dreams of a place called Hambledown…

  3. Hi Mande,

We met previously on goodreads, I think. I am the author of the School of the Ages series, with two published, one more done, and another in the works. I can promise you some continuity as far as having more to read if you like the first. The series starts with The Ghost in the Crystal, in which 13-year-old Simon, a very serious kid, meets other teen magicians and gets haunted by the ghost of a heretic from ancient Alexandria. Ghost in the Crystal is not a Harry Potter ripoff, but a tragic novel of friendship, innocent romance, and loss, and also a multicultural novel about magical traditions. It also has time travel and elementals, if you like those.

The sequel is Level Three’s Dream, which is about Simon and his allies’ assignment to help an autistic magician who has the power to trap people in imaginary landscapes. It features a massive chunk of the kids exploring Lewis Carroll worlds.

If you don’t pick my series, I appreciate you mentioning it on your blog and helping with word-of-mouth. I’m a very reader-friendly author, or, as Jango Fett said, “I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.”

    Regards,

    Matt

  4. Give Manitou The Sky People Saga a try. It’s got all five star reviews. Here’s the blurb:

When her adoptive parents were murdered a year ago in New York City, fifteen-year-old Wray Sky moved home to Manitou Springs, Colorado to live with her Ute Indian great-grandmother. Wray’s faith in all that is logical gets rocked to the core by bones that never die, her sudden mind bending abilities and the realization that her parents’ murder may not have been as random as everyone thought.

With support from sweetheart, Kanaan, and best friend, Amaya, Wray faces danger from unknown sources and ultimately discovers that she isn’t who, or what, she thinks she is.

  5. Hi! Here’s a bit about one of my novels, “Suzanne Degnan.”

She doesn’t want you to forget her…

Based on a true story, “Suzanne Degnan” is told through the eyes of Sarah, a young bassist whose musical dreams are challenged when she and her band move into a Chicago apartment building that turns out to be a murder-vortex. Back in 1946, the building was the scene of “The Crime of the Century;” where six-year old Suzanne Degnan was abducted and murdered in the basement. Sarah and her band, Veronica’s Car Crash, have no idea that their home holds such a horrendous history, but Sarah is sensitive to the unseen world and soon the ghost of Suzanne Degnan is waking her up at 3 in the morning. The spirit of the little girl is sometimes so angry that she appears as a demon, attacking Sarah and sending the lives of the band members into a tumultuous whirlwind.

  6. Hi Sherry,
Suzanne Degnan sounds intriguing. I wanted to give you a shout out on Twitter but can’t find you. Are you on there? Can you send me your twitter handle? Thanks!

  7. Hey there! Thanks for this wonderful opportunity. Here is a Description of my book, The Misfit of Supernatural High.

15-year-old Wanda Windsor is not the most popular student at Hecate High. In fact, amongst her fellow witches, the fairies, the shifters, the vampires, and the werewolves, she’s one of the least popular students. However, she never thought anyone hated her enough to try attack her. During her sophomore year someone uses mind control on other students to force them to hurt Wanda, and she manages to just barely escape each attack. Wanda isn’t sure who would want to hurt her, but she’s fairly certain it has to do with the introverted new student who has visions of the future.

When she isn’t dodging death, Wanda spends her time trying to pass Geometry, avoiding (unsuccessfully) the subject of boys, and getting into mischief with her friends.

  8. Hi Mande,

A lLovely and generous opportunity. Thank you!

Here is the novel blurb for Carry on the Flame: Destiny’s Call Book One. It is urban fantasy, with a sub-genre of visionary fiction, magical realism .

Book Two, Carry on the Flame: Ultimate Magic releases early November. I put that blurb in, too.

Carry on the Flame: Destiny’s Call

Humanity is in the midst of the greatest crisis in their evolution. Sharay is the one chosen to show the way forward and help humankind move through the fear and dark times of today’s world. Born into a lineage of priestesses in modern day Glastonbury, England, Sharay’s way is blocked by her jealous Aunt Phoebe, who uses black magic against her to steal her fortune and magical power. When Phoebe commits Sharay to a psychiatric ward and accuses her of murder, Sharay struggles with the temptation to fight Phoebe’s vengeance with her own. Through the ancient Celtic ceremony of Beltaine, Sharay experiences profound sacred union with the Welshman Guethyn, who shows her how to open her heart. But Sharay must learn to transform her hatred for her aunt in order to claim the mystery held deep within her cells that will allow her to fulfill her destiny and prove that the ultimate magic is the power of love.

Born into a lineage of priestesses in modern day Glastonbury, England, Sharay is the one chosen by the Goddess of the Stars and the Sea to help humankind move through the fear and chaos of today’s world. To do so, she has to face her grief, loss, and her own dark side. Her way is blocked by her jealous Aunt Phoebe, who uses black magic against Sharay to steal her fortune and her magical powers. When Phoebe accuses her of insanity and murder, it’s the elder, eccentric wizard Dillon who sets Sharay on the Celtic ‘Imram,’ a quest designed to awaken her magical abilities as a priestess. And it’s Dillon’s grandson Guethyn who shows Sharay how to open her heart in the Beltaine Ritual, the ancient Celtic ceremony of sacred union.

Hunted by the police, stalked by a demonic Tracker conjured by her aunt, and torn from everyone she loves, Sharay struggles with the temptation to fight Phoebe’s dark powers with her own. She must transform her fear and hatred for her aunt in order to uncover the mystery held deep within her cells that will allow her to fulfill her destiny – a secret only she can discover. When separated from Guethyn’s protection, Sharay continues on her Imram alone to prove that the ultimate magic is the power of love.

  9. Hi everyone! Thank you so much for pitching me your books. The offer closes tomorrow and I’ve read through your pitches so many times that the decision is VERY TOUGH! 10. As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Laurel knows her business. However, when her clients are being taken one by one by a vampire calling himself Naken, she fears that somehow the hypnotherapy is also responsible. Raithe, Laurel’s best friend and sometimes assistant, fears for her own life, as well as Laurel’s and her clients. The two of them race against time to try and figure out why her clients are being taken and how to stop Naken from taking anyone else. But this is not the only dilemma that Laurel is facing. There is Ben and Kianas, the two loves in her life.

Ben, a love from her past has just come back into her life. Kianas is a new love who promises her a future that she could never have imagined, on another world called Htrae. Htrae is a world from another universe filled with beauty beyond belief; but it is also filled with danger-one that threatens Laurel’s life and her ability to hold on to her past. If she allows Kianas to turn her, she may never be a part of her son’s life. But if she stays human she is in danger of loosing her life. The choices Laurel makes are tantamount to what the future holds for her and the people she loves.

What if everything people thought was an illusion turned out to be true? What if the stories they thought were fantasy, are true? Many great authors have written science fiction novels about events that are now scientific fact and today physicists are saying that parallel worlds are a real possibility. Come explore with me the possibility of a parallel world where vampires and werewolves are sentient beings and decide for yourself, as I weave an intriguing tale of Dreams and Vampires.

  11. Thank you all for the wonderful stories. I wish I could read them all! I will contact each of you personally today. Again, thank you so much for participating. This was such a great way to get introduced to new worlds.

  13. See the description bellow, but first let me say: what a cool idea. I got to your page through your twitter post regarding book cover art. Which is fantastic by the way.
Perhaps it’s the fact that her puppy has grown to be twice the size of a German Shepherd and has started talking.  Perhaps it’s that mysterious evil figures are searching everywhere for her and her family, intent on ending her life.  Or perhaps it’s the fact that Scarlet Hopewell has just learned that she is one half a prophecy that will decide the fate of two worlds, one that she didn’t even know existed. Whatever the reason, Scarlet Hopewell is having a very interesting year.

The barrier that separates the magical and non-magical worlds is about to be broken and Scarlet is caught right in the middle.  With an ancient wolf who she thought was her family dog, a wizened old Tounder (the elder of the Keepers of the Light), and her family, Scarlet will embark on a great adventure to learn how to wield magical power beyond her wildest imagination.  But time is running out.  An evil is rising in the south and he too will amass powers equal or greater to her own…and he has a head start.  Before the end, her world will be destroyed, and the only hope for those that remain is Scarlet.

Scarlet and the Keepers of the Light is the first in a series of five novels for young adults that will chronicle the adventures of Scarlet and her companions as they fight against the evil Prince Thanerbos and his plans to rule over both the magical and non-magical worlds.  The novel is about finding one’s own inner strength and the inseparable bond that can exist between family and friends.  Filled with imagery of worlds both familiar and fantastical, it takes the readers through Scarlet’s transition from an ordinary twelve-year-old girl with hopes of one day being a writer, to the powerful prophesied hero of a land beyond even her considerable imagination.
